Dear MFP lovers,
We are delighted to introduce you to our new blog section 'MFP 🎬 Presents: London Diaries'.
As a London-born brand, Maria Francesca Pepe has always reflected the creative, diverse and contemporary spirit of the city. So we decided that is finally time for us to start updating you each month with the newest and coolest from the world of fashion, art, photography, music and cinema in our beloved British capital.
For a long time we were looking for the best theme to mark the beginning of our new blog section. In the end we decided that is always better to stay true to who you are. Taking into account our brand identity, we felt somehow obliged to devote our first London diary to contemporary fashion.
However, when talking about fashion nowadays, the first things that probably come to our minds are the glossy images on magazines, billboard campaigns and of course, social media. Fashion needs and thrives on beautiful images and visuals, able to turn the simplest garments into beautiful mysterious creatures with their own stories behind.
When we heard of this exhibition, we could not hold our excitment and had to make our way to Berkley Square, Mayfair, where the wizards of lightening and digital post-production in fashion photography, aka Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott, were showcasing their first major exhibition.
In honour of their 20th Anniversary of collaboration, the legendary photography duo selected 18 of their best works, made between 2001 and 2014, for display in Philips London from October 24- November 3. The doors of the gallery were open to anyone, who wanted to see and feel masterpieces such as 'Smoke' and 'Lips' together with iconic nude photographs of Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne.
Since meeting in 1994, Mert & Marcus have established themselves as two of the most inventive photographers in fashion today. The duo shot numerous iconic campaigns for industry giants as Miu Miu, Loewe, Versace and Gucci and has captured supermodels as Kate Moss, Lara Stone, Naomi Campbell and Natalia Vodianova. Apart from their highly polished, colour-saturated and hyper real aesthetics, the duo is also famous for their seductive and provocative style.
Even though the exhibition in London is over, we have good news to all Paris-based MFP lovers. The ultimate MUST SEE of the season is heading to Philips Gallery in Saint Germain. But hurry up, lucky Parisians! Mert and Marcus: Works 2001-2014 will be available only from November 9-16th. The 'luckier' could even afford one of the prints for some £16k spare change 💰
Londoners don't be sad if you missed it out 😉 We took some photos just for you 💋
